It’s Legit:: Coconut Oil Hair Treatment

This impromptu post brought to you by my dry awful hair.

Seriously, my hair has been AWFUL lately. I have really thick, coarse, wavy hair. For the past few weeks, I have been in desperate need of color and a cut. Dry, dry and frizzy and snarly and unmanageable. just ugh. I’m not even exaggerating. I’m not whining about my hair and in reality I should be in a pantene commercial. For real, it’s just not been right.

So today it got to the point where I was ready to try anything. I was sitting on my couch watching The Hills (don’t judge) looking at all their young luxurious hair and I decided, enough with this hag hair. I got up and grabbed my coconut oil (from TJ’s {extra virgin}) and headed to the bathroom and literally just scooped it out of the jar and saturated my hair. It instantly started absorbing it and got really wavy (kinda interesting) . I just made sure to work it through all of my hair and then I twisted it all up and waited for an hour to wash it out.

  1. coat in oil
  2. wait an hour
  3. shampoo
  4. condition
  5. style as normal

It worked. My hair is now softer, sleeker, and just in general feels healthier. The next time I do this, I may very well just sleep with it in my hair and see what happens. I decided to just post this really quick because of my tweet an instagram interest. Honestly, if you have really thin, or oily hair, I don’t know of this treatment is for you. But, if your hair is thick and coarse like mine, I’d say give it a go! I have been planning on trying this since I posted the coconut sugar body scrub- the oil is like $5. Cheaper than any hair product, organic, smells great and has 100 other uses, so if you don’t like the results of this, I won’t feel too bad. ;)

Let me know if you try this and how it works for you! xox
