2 Things You Aren’t Doing That Will Make Your Manicure Better

If you are a blogger, chances are you know and understand the importance of a sweet manicure. We use our hands to do important things…such as POINT at stuff. In photos or on video, which means we like our nailios to look good. Well, I’m here to tell you, there are some super simple things that I see happening that are simple to fix and you will be shocked at what a difference it makes. It’s like…”OH that’s why they look better when I get them done!”

First of all. Buff your nails. Get a buffer (see mine above) and if you do nothing else but even out the texture, you will see a huge improvement. Your polish will last longer, and look better. For real, I was surprised too. I have ridgey nails, and a good buff goes a long way.

Are you ready for the big tip? When it comes to polish, regardless of the brand and color-Stay the heck away from your cuticles. So often I see the paint starting literally right at the skin, and all over the skin for that matter. The base of your nail,  where it touches the skin is NOT where the polish should start. In fact, avoid having the polish touch any skin at all, sides and bottom. Even if it feels like an empty space to you, it will look better than having it near the skin to have a tiny gap on the sides.

{ i drew for you…. ;) }

See how neat the line along the bottom of the nail looks compared to the sides where the dots run onto the skin? It’s really easy once you do it a few times, just pretend there is a border you can’t cross. Start in the center of your nail, just 1/8 ” above the cuticle, and no matter how “off ” it feels, use that initial stroke as your guide. You will look like you got a professional mani, I promise!
