You guys, I really really love Lindsay. Like, for sure in real life we would be BFF. She’s funny and crafty and she could bake me something major if I invited her to a potluck. You are all in for such a treat today! She is here with a super. awesome. beauty diy. It’s like when Brandon and Dylan were both in the Old Navy commercial WITH Kelly! I was like really? They are all just together?? Read on and see what I mean!

Hi Paisley Boulevard readers! I’m Lindsay and I blog over at Little Mudpies. Over there you will find a bunch of stuff from recipes like my Chocolate Eclair Cake and Strawberry Cupcakes with Lemon Frosting. DIY and tutorials like my Fabric Covered Diaper Box (no sew!)and the most popular Heatless Curls. While you are there make sure to check out my Momma Tales – that’s where I share all things motherhood.

I am just now jumping on this coconut oil train. I never realized its amazingness until I tried it a few months ago on my hair. Then I tried out Colleen’s Apple Pie Body Scrub. This stuff really is amazing, and I guess you can even cook with it. I haven’t gotten that far!

Today I have a super easy DIY for Coconut Oil Lip Balm. This is so simple, you could make a batch and pass it out for little gifts for the holidays!

All you need is
Coconut Oil
Any kind of Kool Aid
and a Container to put it all in
You are going to melt your oil in the microwave. Be careful not to get the oil hot – if it gets hot let it cool a bit before you add your kool-aid. The kool-aid won’t dissolve properly if the oil is hot.
I did mine for 15 seconds at 5 second intervals.
Add in kool aid and stir.
Obviously the picture above is very purple – I didn’t want my lip balm to be that dark
so I melted more oil and added it to it to lighten it up a bit.
You’ll have to play around with it.
Remember darker colors like blues and purples may actually turn your lips color
so it’s best to make it on the lighter side
or use lighter kool aid colors.
Pour your oil/kool aid mixture into your containers and let harden.
That’s it! Add a little label if you want and now you have your own lip balm.
Thanks so much for having me Colleen!

  • I have been putting in a ton of time at the gym. I had been yo-yo dieting this whole year and somehow my lose 15 lbs by summer plans were traded in for a fast gain of ANOTHER 15. Not cute, not the plan and I’m way pissed at myself. Every indulgent bite I took… [Continue Reading]

  • I took last week away from blogging and got some things done around the house. I painted my kitchen, did a chalkboard wall, threw away some junk. It feels awesome. Which leads to the fact that I just now want to spruce up literally every other area in our house. Haha. Really, though. I crave… [Continue Reading]

  5. This sounds great! I have done this with petroleum jelly but that is gross. But I do have a question- coconut oil melts if it gets warm. In the summer sometimes my jar of coconut oil is completely liquid. Wont this melt and be messy?
