Loves on a Thursday: Stephen King

Stephen King

I thought this week’s loves could be on the dark side since it’s almost Halloween! I have had a long, long love of Stephen King novels. Salem’s Lot was the first real novel I really read that wasn’t, like, The Babysitter’s Club (which I also LOVED don’t get me started about my Kid Kits) when I was 12 or s0, and I must have read it hundreds of times. IT will always be in the top of my favorites list and I used to act it out with my bff and sister, and when I sit down to think about it, it’s probably easier to list his books that I haven’t read. He’s just a total wacko. And while I will admit that it has been years since I have sat down with a Stephen King novel, I really did spend the better part of my youth curled up with library book after library book literally trying to read them all. He’ll always hold a special place in my heart for being the first to ever scare the hell out of me.

And now, onto the fun!

  • Well I totally blew it. I probably could have kept up with it, and I really enjoyed having a prompt to use, but I just can’t be held accountable for something like blogging everyday. Plus, I sort of felt like every one is doing it, and I don’t like to run with the crowds. j/k… [Continue Reading]

  1. Well you got me on Stephen King…not really a horror/scary movie kind of girl. Although I have seen the Shining. I think I may have watched it to try and impress a boyfriend…LOL! And then probably had nightmares for months!

  2. Oh Stephen King, I’ve loved everything of his that I’ve read other than the Tommyknockers, which just dragged a bit too much for me.. Pet semetary and Cujo were particularly good, but The shining is probably my favourite. haven’t tried salems lot, is that the vampire one?

    • Yes! It’s fantastic.

      • And I think the same thing with Tommyknockers, I don’t think I got through that one, but it was sooo long ago that I don’t remember. But, that one stands out as a “neverfinisheddidn’tlike” in my head.

  3. Stephen King books are amazing. When I was young, well, still, my dad has read / reads all Stephen King. I don’t know when I got my hands on my first book, but I can tell you when I saw IT for the first time, to this day I hate clowns. But, seriously, his books are so great. I think I might have to pull one out now!

  4. “It” scares the heck out of me. To this day. But, his other books/films are really good and anytime “The Shining” is on TV, I have to watch it!

And I don’t think I ever finished “The Tommyknockers” either. It was just too convoluted.

Also…Kids kits?? OMG! I loved The Babysitter’s Club! I remember back in elementary school my friends and I tried to start our own babysitter’s club. LOL, thanks for bringing back that memory :)
